San Bartolomé School

On April 1st, 1936, the English and French Teacher Training College in the city of Rosario started its classes. At that time, these two schools depended on the Teacher Training College Nº 1 of Rosario «Dr. Nicolás Avellaneda», and were transferred to the jurisdiction of the National Teacher Training Institute of Rosario (today IES «Olga Cossettini») when it was created in 1968. It was the first institution in the interior of the country to offer these courses, which until then were only offered in Buenos Aires. The choice of our city is testimony to its intense intellectual life and its vast area of influence already in those days.

The challenges faced by teachers have changed considerably throughout this long trajectory, which is why the English Teaching Department proposes to celebrate this 85th anniversary of its creation by recovering voices, relevant experiences and proposals from our recent graduates in this free online activity.

This talk focuses on a project to spur young students on to follow the path of self-acceptance in the face of adverse circumstances to make peace with their body image. Audio-visual and creative activities will be shared so that participants can stimulate their students to unpack and deprogramme arbitrary messages in the classroom, tapping into the students’ innermost thoughts and emotions, unleashing their creativity and helping them to get a feel for the target language.
